    IS-ESD System Overview

    Operation

    The IS-ESD System is designed for simplicity and safety in operation. Under normal conditions, all indicators on the controller display green, signifying proper functioning. However, if an alarm is triggered, the system responds swiftly. The I.S. ESD controller sends a signal to open the control solenoid, which bleeds off the instrument gas and closes the inlet/ESD valve. This action is visually indicated by the alarm light and 'valve status' light changing from green to red. To restore normal operation after an alarm has been addressed, operators simply need to press the green 'RESET' button on the controller, which will reopen the inlet/ESD valve.

    For additional safety, the inlet/ESD valve can be manually closed by pressing the red 'shutdown' button. The system also has a fail-safe feature that closes the valve if the internal battery voltage drops too low, indicated by the 'battery status' light turning red. The operational principle is straightforward: green signifies all is well, while red indicates an issue requiring attention.

    This fail-safe unit is remarkably resilient and guaranteed to operate for up to 6 months without sunlight. The advanced model IS-1720 is equipped with 485 mod bus communication capabilities, allowing it to share critical information such as alarm status, well status, and system voltage. It can even receive remote shutdown commands via a radio SCADA system, enhancing its versatility and integration with broader control systems.
